Comparando Dos sonidos en INGLÉS

Gracias por estar en la clase la semana pasada y aquí te mando unas notas para que puedan practicar para la clase que viene este jueves.

Okay, in class we had a lot of conversation practice with vocabulary we need on work sites. So practicamos mucha conversación, la conversación que necesitas en el job site para construcción, and we practiced two sounds. We practiced: (short a) and (short o). Que suena raro porque el (short a) no existe en español. (short a) is not a sound in Spanish. It is in Portuguese. So the- my Brazilians, you have an advantage here on these few words. But it's very important because the prus- the pronunciation affects comprehension.

Okay, so for example, I'm going to read the words. Yo voy a leer las palabras que practicamos la semana pasada para que puedan practicar. Okay, so for example, we say mask, mask. We don't say mosque, we say mask. Mosque is something different. Mask, sand, hammer, mallet, batt, bag, fan, vacuum, sample, plan, axe, hard hat, knee pads, flammable, scaffolding, ladder.  Todas esas palabras tienen ese sonido de (short a).

Okay, (short a). Ahora estas palabras tienen otro sonido (short o). Okay? Tall, wall, hall, drywall. Now my Brazilians, be careful.  The “L” can be very difficult if you speak Portuguese. It's easy to say wao and drywao, and we need wall, drywall.  Cardboard, drawing, toggle, like a toggle bolt, yardstick, particle board or particle mask, concrete, install, hard hat.

Okay, I will see you this Thursday for more practice. Vamos a usar esa- este vocabulario y más conversación.  Y si tienen ideas para la clase, por favor mándamelas. I look forward to seeing you again.
